WARNING!!
POISON
HERBICIDE SPRAYING
IS HERE, NOW, IN
GRAND COUNTY !
(Fall, 2008) WARNING TO LOCALS & TOURISTS!
You were or will be exposed to Grand County's spraying (using trucks OR backpacks) of poisonous herbicides (one class of pesticides) once again, in their yearly war against certain species of plants they call "noxious weeds".
CDOT delegates "broadcast" spraying, to Grand County's Weed Control, along State Highways 40, 9, 34, & 125. EVERY living thing gets sprayed, even NEAR STREAMS or into streams(!), using a TANKER spray TRUCK!!!
Herbicide sprays include Telar XP & Milestone. Read spray labels, in stores, &/or on the internet. Telar XP label: see http://www.dupont.com/ag/us/prodinfo/prodsearch/information/H64950.pdf
Milestone label: see http://www.cdms.net/LDat/ld77N006.pdf
Put up your signs saying "DO NOT SPRAY!" on your property, NOW, next to road rights of ways.
Call Jen (Jennifer), Head of Grand County Weed Control, at (970) 887-0745. Tell Jen NOT TO SPRAY near your house, and ask where & when spraying will be done, in advance, so you can bring in children & pets, close windows, and cover up gardens, or avoid the area completely, to avoid being poisoned by "DRIFT". IF GUSTY WINDS, THEY SHOULD NOT SPRAY AT ALL!
Please promote non-toxic weed control methods (mowing, pulling, grazing by goats, mulching, re-seeding, etc.), in Grand County! For more info, call Lenny or Gail at 627-3162.
